Adidas School Fun-Run

Congratulations to all Year 7 who participated in this years Adidas Fun Run. The event was held on Tuesday 6th May. Thank you to Mrs Cassie White who did a great job organising the event.

Students will gain sponsorship by asking members of our community to support them for running in the event.  The funding raised will be used to purchase new sporting equipment to enhance sporting opportunities at Berkeley Vale Campus. Event organizer Brett Marchant is proud of the way the students and school community are getting behind this event.  It's up to the local community now to get behind their efforts and make this a runaway success.

Adidas are doing their bit too by creating an interactive online training facility where students can train with Jonathan Brown, Scott Prince, Sally Pearson and other elite adidas athletes. Students will receive frozen refreshments after the run courtesy of SMOOZE fruit ice and all school families get 6 weeks of free movie rentals from Quickflix.com.au.  In addition, families that get right behind the event have a chance to win a holiday to Hawaii staying at the Sheraton Waikiki flying Hawaiian Airlines.

The adidas School Fun-Run is a healthy fundraiser that ensures all schools have a viable alternative to junk food fundraising. The event sends the right message to students about having fun while getting involved and being active. It's now up to the local community to get involved and support our local school by sponsoring any little athletes who come knocking on your door looking for support in the coming weeks.

Olympic Athlete and adidas School Fun-Run Ambassador Craig Mottram said, "adidas and myself are thrilled to be uniting with schools right across Australia.  Together with participating schools, we hope to inspire a nation to better health and wellbeing". Brendan Hopp, General Manager of The Fundraising Group, a company with 24 years' experience in the school fundraising industry said "businesses such as adidas and CUA are seeing the real value in being a part of the solution to childhood obesity for Australian school children. Berkeley Vale Campus should be congratulated for holding a health based fundraiser. Too often we see schools and community groups choose unhealthy fundraisers with no educational value. The adidas School Fun-Run offers fitness education, health messages and encourages students to get active".

CUA are backing Australian Schools whom choose healthy and active fundraisers for the 4th year running. "Addressing obesity amongst school-aged children has been a growing struggle for schools across Australia so we see our sponsorship as an opportunity to not only support our schools financially but to encourage kids to get outdoors and have a bit of fun through sporting activities such as a fun run," CUA Managing Director Mr Graham Olrich said.

You can also help by buying your next pair of adidas shoes from the local The Athletes Foot store and dropping your sales receipt into the reception at Berkeley Vale Campus before November 2013. adidas will donate 5% of the sale back to the school as an extra reward for choosing a healthy fundraiser.

The adidas School Fun-Run is a real community program with businesses rewarding schools and students for getting involved. Prizes the school could win include one of seven Canon Prize Packs valued at $2,000 and a day at the school with adidas Sports Stars!

We encourage the community to reward the school for choosing a health based fundraising idea and giving them your support.

Good Luck Berkeley Vale Campus.
